Main girder replacement projectThe Verrazano Narrows Double-deck Bridge in New York City was built in 1964 as a double-deck highway suspension bridge over the Verrazano Narrows. The main span (370.33m+1298.45m+370.33m) is a double-deck bridge with six lanes on both sides. At 31.4 meters wide, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time, and it still serves as an important river crossing between Staten Island and Brooklyn. The bridge deck replacement was completed by the end of 2017.
