Confederation Bridge, Canada
ENR Best Project award 1997
It is known as the pinnacle of modern bridge engineering
Canada's Confederation Bridge is one of the largest bridge projects in North America, with a total investment of $460 million. The bridge adopts super-large section precast technology, which is called "the peak of modern bridge engineering". It spans 13.8km across the Northumberland Strait and was completed in 1996. This landmark bridge has set a number of world records for the design and construction of super-large prefabricated blocks.
Dr. Sun Junling is in charge of the design of the substructure of the main bridge and the design of ship impact resistance.
